Navajo Artist Dee Nelson designed and made this wonderful little vase. Dee is from the Tangle Clan. This vase is horse hair pottery. Horse hair is made by using horse tail and mane hair. It is fired using a special technique. The fine lines are created with the hair from the mane. The thick lines are created from the hair of the tail. This vase has fading blue stripes around it. The vase is about 5.25 inches tall. It is about 3 inches at its widest point. The mouth of the vase is about 2 inches across and the base is about 2 inches across. |
