Navajo potter and artist Mabelene Grey designed and made this wonderful little vase. The vase is a dark horse hair pot that is etched with mountains and cactus. The pot is painted with a dark burgundy throughout with highlights in purple under the mountains, and orange through the cactus. Ms. Grey is from the "Near the Mountain Coal for the Edge Water" clan. She learned the art of etching pottery from her uncle. She has been etching pottery for the past 6 years. This pot is about 4.5 inches wide, the mouth is 2 inches across and it stands about 3 inches tall. |
