White Alabaster Indian and Bear Head Bust

This beautiful carving was done by Navajo artist Gilbert Yazzie. Gilbert carved a wonderful Native American face, and upper body into brown and white alabaster. The body is wearing traditional Native American clothing and a necklace. On the head of the Indian is a bear pelt, with the bear head. This represents the importance of the bear in the Native American life and religion. Carved onto the back of the sculpture is a bear fetish and two eagle feathers. This sculpture is carved in a triangular shape. It is about 5.5 inches tall. The base of the sides sculpture is 3.5" x 1.5" x 2" x 3.5". The base is 3 inches across at its widest point.
